Cliffe Vale, Stoke-on-Trent

The proposal consists of the demolition of the existing 250,000 sqft former mill and warehouse, with the design aims:

  • To re-invent the historical and industrial canal area.
  • To create a new relationship with the Trent & Mersey Canal, establishing a water related living and working community.
  • Develop an urban identity that will reflect the particular location, closely linked to the surrounding context on the one hand and on the other, to be part of the wider regeneration of the city.
  • To create a high density, mixed function programme.
  • To create a permeable plan with “connections”, “routes” and “vistas” with the surrounding context and the rest of the city. To facilitate sustainable ways of living and working.
Planning consent August 2008.
