Duke Street Development, Liverpool

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

NC Architecture is delighted to announce the granting of Full Planning Approval by Liverpool City Council, for a Change of Use to convert three vacant commercial buildings, to create 21 self-contained aparthotel units for a large aparthotel operator in Liverpool, with A3 commercial unit at ground floor.

The three interconnected / terraced buildings are in the Georgian architectural style. The works involve refurbishing the facade, creating a new mansard roof on the front and a contemporary zinc roof to the rear, plus internal alterations. The refurbishment of the facade will see restoration of the timber sash windows and the ornate decorative detail around the arched doorways. The proposed works will have a positive impact and as a result, improve the architectural significance of the buildings.

The site is along Duke Street, adjacent to Liverpool One Shopping Centre and within walking distance of Liverpool Docks, surrounding shops, local amenities, bars and restaurants, making it a highly sustainable development amidst a vibrant City life. It is also within Ropewalks, a historic area named after the unique large 19th century warehouse buildings, which is currently experiencing a much needed regeneration.

Construction is due to commence late 2017 / early 2018 and is anticipated to take approx. 12 months to complete.
