NC Architecture new branding

The Practice has obtained Consents for the following over the past couple of weeks:

Red Lion Street: A very complex, tight sight in Manchester's Northern Quarter, saw Manchester City Council support the part 11, 8, 7 and 5 storey development, after almost a year of negotiations with the Planners, civic bodies and local residents.

The scheme provides 38 mixed sized apartments, over 200sqm of boutique style retail units at street level. The scheme will likely commence to site late Spring / early Summer 2017.

Caldy, The Wirral: An 18 month Planning negotiation has seen Consent granted for this 15,000sqft private dwelling. A 25m long pool in a superb 4,500sqft leisure suite, all set within the Caldy Conservation Area.

This house doffs its cap to Voysey, the doyen of the 'Arts & Crafts' movement. Works to progress to site late Spring / early Summer 2017.

Congleton Road, Alderley Edge: Obtaining the Consent on Appeal, this previously twice refused scheme has proven the argument over infilling within the greenbelt. Set within the Alderley Edge Conservation Area, the near one acre plot had no previous dwellings on it, but now will see a 10,000sqft highly contemporary home, to be constructed in Spring / Summer 2017 for private end-user clients.

A very busy 2017 beckons for the Practice!

Greenbank Synagogue, Liverpool

Greenbank Synagogue, Liverpool

NC Architecture are delighted to have secured Planning and Listed Building Consent at Liverpool City Council Planning Committee, on 20th June 2017.

22 refurbished apartments in the Listed Building and 30 apartments as new build enabling in a four + five storey modern format, so as to compliment and not fight with the Listed Building itself.

This was one of the most difficult and challenging schemes the Practice has ever been involved with. The very exciting task of bringing this incredible Grade II* Listed Synagogue back to life, with a scheme that would combine both viable residential use and retaining the core spiritual social functions of the former 1,200 seat synagogue.

Despite numerous objections by neighbours, civic societies, heritage bodies and several Ward Councillors, both Director Neil Collins and Project Architect Tony Kaba made a powerpoint presentation to the Planning Committee, ensuring that they were under no illusions, the decision being simply to "save the Heritage Asset or not."

Red Lion Street, Manchester

A complex and tight site in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, this scheme comprises part 11, part 7 and part 5 storey accommodation, stepping down on one end acknowledging the smaller scale of Thomas and Turner Street. The scheme provides 38 apartments over street level ‘boutique’ commercial units. Due to its superb central location, the design and quality of materials are to be of a very high standard, which when completed will be a landmark building for the City.
